Your info, explained
NipperHub is the app your club and your parents use to run Nippers. This page tells you what it knows about you, in plain words.
What NipperHub knows about you
- Your name, and which club and age group you're in
- Which beach days you came to
- Things your parents told the club to keep you safe — like an allergy, or who picks you up
- Your SurfGuard number from Surf Life Saving
- Whether your parents are happy for the club to take photos of you
That's it. It never knows your birthday — we don't store it, on purpose.
Why it knows those things
So your club knows you're signed up, knows you're there on beach days, knows who's allowed to collect you, and knows how to keep you safe in the water.
Who can see it
- Your parents or guardians, and the adults they've chosen — like a grandparent who picks you up
- A small number of adults at your club whose job needs it — and only adults the club has checked
A few companies help us too: the ones that send emails and texts carry messages with your name in them, and the one that takes your family's payments may see your first name. Your club may print lists with your name on them, and the ones for beach days have your safety notes on them too. The adults who run your club can also save a list of the kids at the club onto a computer. It can have your name and your parents' phone numbers and emails on it, but never what your safety notes say, and NipperHub writes down every time they do it. Nobody else — not other clubs, not advertisers. We never sell it, and we never show you ads.
Your parents are in charge
Your parents or guardians said yes before your club signed you up, and they can change their mind about things like photos. Every year, your club asks them again.
When you leave Nippers
If nobody in your family uses NipperHub for three whole seasons, we delete your info by ourselves — your parents get an email first. Your family can also ask us to delete it sooner, by emailing us. There's no button for it, so a real person does it and writes back when it's done. When it happens, we really delete it — it doesn't sit in a drawer somewhere.
One thing we don't delete: if your club has written down something about keeping you safe — like a worry someone reported — that stays, and your name stays with it, until the year you turn 25. That's a rule about protecting kids, and it isn't ours to change. Your club also keeps its own list of members, with your name and age group on it.
